Care Ministry
Asbury Connection
Share your time and love by making regular, personal visits to homebound members or those in nursing homes or retirement facilities.
Blood Ministry
Assist Asbury’s Blood Drive Coordinators during occasional Red Cross blood drives.
Bereavement Group Facilitator
Serve as co-facilitator of a 12 week grief group.
Care Meals
Prepare one dish of a care meal or deliver food to Asbury members who have experienced the death of a loved one and who do not belong to a discipleship community.
Funeral Ministry
Assist with flower deliveries, ushering, and meals before, during, or after a funeral service in Mason Chapel.
Hospital Visitation
Visit Asbury members and friends who are in the hospital.
House Sitting
Care for the home of a bereaved member who is attending the funeral of a family member.
Military Connection
Serve on a team who meets twice a year to pack and send gift boxes to Asbury-related military personnel who are stationed overseas.
Prayer Card Ministry
Be part of a team of volunteers to create and personalize greeting cards twice a month and send to Asbury-related military personnel, people in nursing homes, retirement facilities and those going through a difficult time.
Ready When the Time Comes
Assist in the event of a large scale Tulsa community crisis by serving as part of this trained Asbury team.
Respite Care
Provide support and temporary relief to those giving 24-hour attention to individuals who have Alzheimer’s disease and cannot care for themselves. (Training provided by the Alzheimer’s Association)
Special Needs Buddy
Be a Sunday morning companion for a special needs child.
Special Needs Check-In
Check in special needs children and special needs buddies on Sunday morning, assuring there is a buddy for each child.
Stephen Minister
Provide confidential one-on-one weekly support and prayer for people who are going through a crisis or time of transition.
Celebrate Recovery
BBQ / Dessert
BBQ Team - plans the menu, shops, prepares and serves dinner every Monday night. Dessert Team - prepare to serve dessert at 9:00 pm when small group meetings end.
Childcare
Watch and entertain CR participants’ children during meetings one Monday night a month.
Greeter / Usher
Greet people and welcome them to CR on Monday nights. Help those who arrive alone to connect with at least one person who can be with them for the evening. Make all who attend feel welcome and comfortable at Asbury.
Technical Support
Provide technical support with computer and presentation equipment before and during sessions on Monday nights.
Children’s Ministry
Elementary Small Group Leader KRS (gr 1/2)
Lead a small group of children to ensure each 1st and 2nd grade child feels at home in the classroom, that every child is drawn into the fun and fellowship of the games, activities, and Bible story time.
Elementary Small Group Leader - H2O (gr 3/4)
Lead a small group of children to ensure each 3rd and 4th grade child feels at home in the classroom, that every child is drawn into the fun and fellowship of the games, activities, and Bible story time.
Elementary Small Group Leader – Rock 5.6 (gr 5/6)
Lead a small group of children to ensure each 5th and 6th grade child feels at home in the classroom, that every child is drawn into the fun and fellowship of the games, activities, and Bible story time.
Hospitality
Greet and welcome guests to the Children’s areas, assist with guest check in and escort guests through the protection system.
Nursery Helper
Sign up for simply “walking in and helping out” in one of Asbury’s nursery rooms.
Preschool Helper
Help with fun and fellowship in the classroom through games, crafts and Bible story time.
Preschool Room Leader
Lead a preschool room, focus on the material needs and tell the Bible story, freeing other team members to be fully engaged in relationships with the children.
Registrar (Elementary)
Handle the check-in or check-out responsibilities at the KRS, H2O, or Rock 5.6 classrooms.
Security Checkers
Provides security for the Children’s areas, by manning doors, keeping children safe, checking identification, and directing traffic.
Special Events
Help plan, prepare, implement, and evaluate special events such as the KRS Pajama Party, H2O Camp-In or rock 5.6 Road Trip.
Welcome Desk
Welcome and facilitate Asbury guests into the Children’s area on Sunday morning. Assist guests and parents in filling out guest registration forms and explain check in and check out procedures.
Children’s Programming
Christmas Eve Service
Help plan, prepare, implement, and evaluate the children’s Christmas Eve program. Be a director, make costumes or sets, or help children practice.
Fall Family Festival
Help plan, prepare, implement and evaluate the annual festival. Also help at event by running games, booths, serve food, collect money, or supervise other volunteers.
Family Easter Egg Hunt
Help plan, prepare, implement, and recruit for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Help set-up, hide eggs, run games, serve food, clean up.
Upward BB Coach/Referee
Serve as an Upward Basketball coach, assistant coach, or referee for boys or girls ages kindergarten through 6th grade. The purpose of Upward Sports is to ensure every child is a winner by sharing the love of Jesus Christ with each player, coach, referee, and family member.
Upward BB Data Entry
Assist with computer input of player/coach/referee registrations.
Upward BB Game Day Helper
Serve as an Upward game day helper. Help with game day set-up and clean-up, announcements, concessions, scorekeeping, clock management, etc.
Vacation Bible School
Lead a crew of children taking them to various sites during VBS. Or work within a large team during VBS helping with crafts, recreation, music, kitchen, drama, missions, driving, or registration.
VBS Family Fun Night
Help plan, prepare, implement and evaluate this annual event. Involves setting up, manning games and inflatable equipment, serving food, and clean-up.
Wednesday Program Helper
Invest time in our children by helping during Wednesday evening programming, with no preparation required.
Discipleship
Alpha - Facts of Life
Serve on a team helping to present a class called “Alpha-Discovering the Facts of Real Life.” This class is a 10 week practical introduction to the Christian faith designed primarily for those seeking to know more about Christianity in a non-threatening environment. Help with dinner preparation and clean up, hospitality or be a table host.

Andrew Caller
Make personal telephone calls to welcome first time visitors.
Barnabas Team
Welcome and assist those joining Asbury on Sunday mornings. Verify information and escort to the sanctuary.
Connection Corner Consultant
Assist guests and members in connecting to a community, a place to serve or care and support when needed.
Docent
Conduct tours for visitors through Asbury facilities.
Friendly Visitor
Make a brief “porch visit” to the homes of first time visitors to Asbury one Sunday a month.
Greeter
Greeters cheerfully welcome all who come to Asbury and escort guests to their destination as needed.
Hospitality - Children’s Preschool
Greet our most precious members and guests and direct them to the appropriate classroom.
Membership Exploration
Assist with this luncheon once a month. Duties include set-up, greeting and signing in guests, table hosts and clean-up.
Sunday Shuttle Drivers
Transport guests to and from the Union High School parking lot and other outlying areas one Sunday a month. May also be asked to serve at special events.
Marriage Ministry
50+ Wedding Anniversary
Help prepare for the annual Anniversary Recognition of couples who have been married 50 or more years.
Couple-to-Couple
Serve as a Support Couple to an engaged couple, meeting with the engaged to discuss the strengths and growth areas of their relationship, which were revealed in the results of a relationship inventory.
Marriage Enrichment Facilitator
In an effort to maximize Godly marriages, Asbury’s marriage ministry offers several marriage enrichment opportunities each year. Lay facilitators make these opportunities possible.
Media Ministry
Live Events / Worship Services
Operate necessary equipment for all live events and/or worship services. The following positions are needed for these events: live sound operators, video switchers, and stage hands.
Technical Maintenance
Assist with equipment maintenance and installation.
Video Production
Need people with experience and equipment to produce various types of videos (announcements, training, etc.).

Banquets
Help plan and promote or oversee ticket sales.
Car Care Ministry
Assist Asbury widows and single moms with their car care needs: wash, vacuum, check tires and fluid levels, recommend needed repairs.
Event Photographer
Provide a record of Men’s Ministry annual events.
Golf Tournaments
Help plan and register participants or solicit sponsorships.
Home Improvement
Assist Asbury widows and single moms with minor home repairs and maintenance.
Men’s Retreats
Assist with planning, promotion and administration.
Prayer Breakfast
Set up, cook, clean up, collect money, manage attendance, facilitate group prayer, or recruit speakers.

Pray for the special requests received at the Wednesday Prayer Breakfast.

Be a part of planning and implementing pastoral education, medical work and water well drilling in Tanzania. Help facilitate other ministry along with prayer.
Latin America Ministry Team
Help plan, pray for, and implement the ministry in Mexico and Ecuador.
Ministry/Missionary Adoption
Link with a missionary in the field to provide news, prayer support and friendship.
Missionary Care Team
Join with others to prepare “agape bags” for our short-term mission participants and to support our missionary families with holiday and birthday cards.
Missionary Host
Provide 1-3 nights of lodging for a visiting missionary. Some occasionally need transportation as well.
Missionary Visitation
Visit an Asbury missionary while on a business trip or a tourist trip.
Prayer Team
Join in prayer with others to support our missionaries and ministries in crisis times.
Recycle
Eyeglasses, hotel-size shampoo, soap and lotion are utilized on our medical missions. Campbell soup labels and labels for education help several different ministries.
Outreach - Regional
A & W - Asbury and Whitman Elem. Partnership
Be a reading buddy, math tutor, field trip volunteer, testing monitor, or office aide at Asbury’s partner school.
Clarehouse (provides a loving home and compassionate caregiving to dying people in need)
Visit, assist with care, prepare and serve meals, help with clerical duties, housekeeping, shopping and errands, or fundraising.
Good Samaritan Health Services
Volunteer your skills as a doctor, nurse, or prayer partner at a free Christian medical clinic where prayer is incorporated into health care services.
Habitat for Humanity
Volunteer at a construction site by helping with actual construction, meals for volunteers, or other odd jobs.
Happy Hands Education Center
Volunteer in classrooms with children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Ages six weeks to six years. Assist with fundraising activities.
Holiday Baskets/Christmas Child
Prepare and deliver food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Help collect, sort, deliver Christmas Child gifts. Wonderful family activity!
Hospitality House of Tulsa (provides lodging and meals to family members of inpatients at Tulsa hospitals)
Assist in the office, light housekeeping, provide meals, be a prayer partner and write encouraging notes to patients and families.
Local Service Projects
Serve one of the following local ministries by: 1) Help with small building repairs, updates, yard work, or office assistance etc. at Youth at Heart, Frances Willard Ministry Center, TU Wesley Foundation, Cookson Hills, Boys Ranch, and Tahlequah Children’s Home. 2) help with disaster relief and state-wide church repairs.
Meals on Wheels
Coordinate, prepare meals for delivery or deliver meals in the Tulsa area.
PAWS Ministry
Visit local nursing homes to brighten the day of residents with a visit from you and your dog. Certification for dogs required.
Prison Ministry
Transport Tulsa area children to visit with their incarcerated mothers. Mentor/tutor children of incarcerated parents and recently released ex-offenders. Serve as a Camp Counselor. Collect or tally receipts for CCA awards. Donate used cars or furniture.
Project Transformation
Read with a child, participate in group recreational and enrichment activities, provide a meal for college interns, and/or serve on a planning committee for summer programming.
Quilting Ministry
Make lap robes, larger quilts and prayer quilts.
Restore Hope
Serve in the food pantry, clothes closet, chapel service, or volunteer in the nursery with children while parents are being counseled.
Ronald McDonald House Meals
Help provide meals for families of children at the Ronald McDonald House.
The Little Light House
Volunteer in classrooms with children who have developmental disabilities, or help with office tasks.
Young Life
Develop one-on-one relationship with youth and help introduce teens to Jesus Christ. Volunteers must be at least college age. Mentor a pregnant teen or teen mother through Young Lives.
Youth at Heart
Tutor a child one day a week after school at Asbury.

Disaster - Early Response Training
Be a first-responder to a local, state, or national disaster. Must have completed the first-responder training offered by the Oklahoma Conference.
Estonia
Participate in VIM Team doing construction, renovation, children’s work, or business development, and a sharing of faith. Skilled and unskilled persons are needed.
Latin America
Participate in VIM Team doing medical, construction, renovation, or children’s work, and a sharing of faith. Skilled and unskilled persons are needed.
Medical
Participate in VIM Medical Team to Tanzania and Mexico which includes general medical, dental and optometry care. Professionals in all areas are needed, including pharmacists. General helpers are also needed.
Oklahoma
Participate in VIM Team doing construction, renovation, or children’s work, and a sharing of faith. Skilled and unskilled persons are needed.
Tanzania

Prayer Ministry
Acts 29 Prayer Team
Pray daily for Asbury, the pastors, and staff. Use the Acts 29 booklet and prayer requests submitted by the pastors, staff, and ministry leaders.
Altar Prayer Partner
Pray with people between and after Sunday services.
Intercessory Prayer Team
Pray for the requests received from Sunday services.
Moms in Touch
Pray with other moms for your children, their teachers, principal, and school. Meet each week in the homes in your specific school affiliation.
Pastors’ Prayer Shield
Pray for the pastors as they lead worship each Sunday in the prayer room on scheduled Sundays.
Pray for All
Pray for 10-12 Asbury member families a minimum of once a week. This is prayer only; no phone calls or contact required.
Prayer Ministry Prayer Team
Pray for the direction of the prayer ministry as we continue to lead Asbury into becoming a “House of Prayer.”
Prayer Ministry Special Events
Assist in special events and weekly projects such as prayer vigils and prayer services.
Weekday Prayer Team
Pray for requests that are called or e-mailed to the church during the week.
Youth Prayer Wall
Surround the youth in prayer 24 hours each day they are on the mission field during Spring Break.
Senior Adult Ministry
Activity Drivers (Sr)
Transport seniors to and from a variety of church approved activities. Must meet Asbury’s insurance requirements.
Busy Hands
Help create and maintain a scrapbook of senior adult activities or make lap robes for residents of Aileen Murdock Villa.
Mission Projects
Help with Circle of Care and Cookson Hills fund-raisers such as the vegetable seed project, school supplies, and the Christmas store.
Nursing Home Worship
Assist with worship services once per month in one of the area nursing homes.
Tweenager Meeting Cooks
Work with the Kitchen Coordinator in purchasing and preparing food, and setting tables for Tweenager luncheons.
Singles Ministry
Activities Team
Plans and coordinates outings, retreats, events or other activities.
Connection Team
Plans and coordinates connection opportunities for members and guests.
Communications Team
Plans and develops media projects, photo and video shoots, audio recordings, website implementation and maintenance, or other media/advertising activities.
Luncheon Team
Plans and coordinates quarterly singles luncheons.
Missions Team
Plan and coordinates mission projects and trips.
Student 10-11-12
Care
Minister to students, their families, and adult volunteers through encouragement, random acts of kindness, and fun.
Fine Arts
Help students develop their talents in drama, dance, visual arts, and/or music to use for special events, mission projects, and weekly Bible studies.
Host Home
Open your home to provide a casual, intimate atmosphere for students to build relationships.
Local Outreach
Help organize and execute local mission projects for students.
Prayer Team
Commit to pray on a regular basis for our student ministry. Also includes helping to organize prayer covering for events like retreats, camps, or mission trips.
Servant
Help set up, tear down, rearrange chairs, props, and other equipment for large group settings and special events.
Sports/Recreation
Need action oriented people. If you love students and love to camp, coach, or play wacky games, this may be the place of service for you.
Summer Fun
Help by being a leader in summer events for high school students. Events range from Big Splash and water wars to Bible studies and mission projects.
Tech Crew
Invest your expertise in computers, sound systems, and other electronics in the special events and ongoing programs of the Student Ministry.
Student - 7-8-9
Care
Lead a student team in ministering to youth and their families, as well as the adult volunteers that support the Student Ministry through encouragement, random acts of kindness, and fun.
Chaperone
Volunteer to go on trips such as Six Flags, lock-ins, retreats, camps, and other special events.
Fine Arts
Work with student team to research, write, and produce short skits that support Bible study topics.
Prayer Team
Intercede in prayer for junior high students, families, volunteers, and staff on a regular basis. Provide prayer coverage during special events such as camp and mission trips.
Summer Fun
Assist in planning and participate in summer events such as pool parties, Big Splash, Gross Games, and mission projects.
Tech Crew
Develop and coordinate PowerPoint slides with worship leaders. Run equipment during worship and train students.
Video Production
Lead student team in producing videos (silly and serious) that enhance Bible study topics. Attend monthly planning meetings.
Student - College
Care Package
Assemble and send care packages to Asbury’s college students.
College Roster
Help keep the college roster current by making phone calls to update incorrect or missing information in the College ministry database.
Prayer / Encouragement Team
Pray for and encourage college students.
Sunday Night Dinners
Be a part of a team preparing dinner for college students once a month on Sunday evenings.
Support Services
Communications Writer
Write articles for Tidings as needed.
Facilities Maintenance Team
Assist with one time projects such as spring and fall grounds cleanup, vacuuming pew cushions, cleaning CLC tables and chairs, etc.
Finance
Assist the finance office with Monday offering count (10-key and/or computer kills may be necessary) in collecting revenue for special events and/or other accounting administrative tasks.
Food Service
Assist the Kitchen Coordinator in preparing, serving and cleaning for Sunday morning breakfasts, Wednesday night dinners, Sunday Exploration luncheons and special events.
Gazebo Cashier
Sell Asbury merchandise, Perceptions and other books on Sunday mornings once a month.
General Office Support
Assist various ministries throughout the church with ongoing administrative responsibilities. Volunteers are needed for general office duties, filing, computer data entry, general organization, and temporary receptionist.
Photography
Take photos of church sponsored events, take photos of new members on Sunday mornings, or take photos as assigned for “Tidings.”
Print Shop / Mail Room
Assist with bulk mailings of printed materials to support Asbury ministries. Operate Print Shop equipment such as copiers, laminators, folding machines, binding machine, etc to ready materials for distribution.
Special Events Team
Assist in the planning and implementation of various special events throughout the year.
Sunday Breakfast Cashier
Collect money for Sunday breakfast.
Technical Writers
Assist with designing, writing, editing and preparing training/instructional materials for various volunteer programs.
Wherever the Church Needs Me
Be part of a group notified via email when there is a special need for volunteer support.
Wedding Assistant
Assist Wedding Coordinator at weddings and/or receptions.

Collect money for Wednesday dinner. Dinners are served during fall and spring classes/programs.

Assist with planning and/or facilitating. Takes place the first Friday and Saturday in December.

Ladies Connection Brunch
Assist with planning and/or facilitating. Connects new members to ministry.
Mother / Daughter Luncheon
Assist with planning and/or facilitating. Takes place every other year.
Outreach to Women
Assist with planning and/or facilitating. Takes place once a year. Encouragement and inspiration event for women.
Service to Seniors - TLC
Assist senior adults in need of help with small odd jobs, etc. Might include light house cleaning or minor household repairs.

Assist with planning and/or facilitating. Conference event for women.
Whirlwind for Willard Game Day
Assist with planning and/or facilitating fund-raiser for Circle of Care ministries. Takes place in April.
Women Care Calling
Telephone a new member, or an elderly or homebound senior to show support and concern.
Women’s Retreat
Assist with planning and/or facilitating. Tasks include decorating, hospitality, publicity, registration, resource sales, set-up / clean-up, music, speaking or teaching. Takes place in the spring.
Worship Ministry
Acolytes
Children age 3rd grade through 6th grade serve as acolyte for the 11:00 sanctuary service.
Baptismal Team
Serve as a helper to those who are being baptized by immersion.
Communion Stewards
Prepare and /or serve communion elements for a service.
Deaf Ministry
Assist with activities other than worship services.
Flower Ministry
Deliver flower arrangements that are left from memorial services to local hospitals.
Pew Rack Crew
Straighten and stock pew racks with envelopes and pens for worship services.
Sign Choir
Learn sign language to Christian songs and occasionally perform.
Ushers
Hand out bulletins, greet congregation, help with offering and communion and assist worshippers as needed.
