Asbury United Methodist Church
Safety & Illness Guidelines

Children may be dropped off at their classrooms up to fifteen minutes before an event, program, or worship service, providing there are background-cleared adults in the classroom. (Children in 5th and 6th grades are released, with parental permission, when their programming ends.)

Two non-related adults must be on duty in each room when it is open and children are present. No room is to be left with only one adult, at any time. In the case of two related adults, a third background-cleared adult must be present.

Children will not be admitted to Asbury Children’s Ministry with the following symptoms:
Fever, temperature greater than 99 degrees within the past 24 hours, nasal discharge, rash, cough, head lice, or diarrhea.

Only people with CPS cards are permitted in the secure area.

Parents leaving their child in Asbury childcare while off-site must agree to the following guidelines:

  1. Event must be within 5 miles of the church
  2. Children must be at least 6 months old and bottled-fed
  3. A location phone number, cell number, and/or pager must be available for communication with the parent
  4. Children are to be picked up within 15 minutes of event completion, and no later than 9:00 pm. The building closes at 9:00 pm.

Parents leaving their child in a children’s ministry program will be required to sign a medical release form for the child, including parent phone numbers in case of an emergency.
