Women's Ministry

Vision
We are called of God to develop a body of women who are fully committed to God both in relationship and lifestyle.

The Women’s Ministry at Asbury is focused on encouraging women to become actively involved in the life of the church through participation in a community, Bible studies, United Methodist Women’s Circles, and in other activities that are designed to assist all women in their spiritual growth.

Every woman has a divine purpose and gift to share with the world around her. Our ministry is to assist you in discovering that unique purpose that God has create you for, as well as to help you use the gifts that God has richly given to you for the advancements of His Kingdom. Darlene Johnson is our Pastor with Women. Her focus is to minister to women both in the church and in the community. She is available to share with you as you have needs.

Activities

United Methodist Women (UMW)
The purpose of the UMW is to know God and to experience freedom as a whole person through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. Membership is open to any woman who accepts the purpose and is willing to participate in the work, through prayer, giving and service. Meet monthly in Circles, as well as a group for lunch.

Some of the other events and ministry efforts sponsored by Asbury Women’s Ministry include:

• Bundle of Joy –An ongoing ministry providing “baby gift bags” to new parents at Asbury
• Crafty ladies – A weekly gathering of women who enjoy working on individual crafts with good friends and great fellowship – Mondays, 9:30 – 2:00, Room 2820
  
• Service to Seniors – An ongoing ministry assisting senior adults in need of help with smaller odd jobs, etc., around the home
  
• Whirlwind Game Day – An annual fund-raising event for the Circle of Care ministries Child S.H.A.R.E. program.
  
• UMW Annual Garage Sale – An annual missions fund-raising event.
• UMW Mother/Daughter Workshop & Banquet – A biennial special event honoring the priceless relationship between mothers and their daughters.
• UMW Christmas Tour of Homes – An annual missions fund-raising opportunity to share family traditions, decorating ideas and the sights and sounds of the Christmas season.
  
• Women’s Spring Retreat – An annual tradition with the purpose of spiritual development, fellowship and fun for the women of Asbury and our community.
  
• Women’s Worship/Outreach Service – An annual event offering an evening of encouragement and inspiration through the spoken word, and song.
• Value of a Woman – An annual seminar-type event designed to lift every women to her rightful place in Christ.
  

Wednesday Morning Bible Study
Wednesday morning Bible study is offered to women to examine the scriptures together and find how they may best relate to their daily lives. It’s also another great opportunity for connecting with other women in a casual, friendly environment. Taught by Rev. Darlene Johnson, 10:00-11:00 a.m., Room 2319.

Mother’s Fellowship
Mother’s Fellowship
Mother’s Fellowship is a long-standing weekly Bible study that caters to the heart of young mothers. This time together gives women opportunities for in-depth study of the scriptures, and for sharing their lives together. Mondays – 9:30-11:30 a.m., Parlor
