Letter from Tom
Fall 2007
Significant progress is being made on our Mission Possible project. Of course, we are experiencing inconvenience in parking and driveway access. Thank you for your cooperation and patience with the inconvenience that comes with remodeling and expansion. Fortunately, some of this will be restored to normal over the next month or two.
However, work will begin soon on the south portico. We will block off the entire south entrance for several months. During that time the main west entrance facing Mingo will be our primary entrance.
The new birth we will experience is far more exciting than the temporary pains associated with building. We are very excited about what this project means for our future. The impact will be huge for our children and youth programs. Adults and ministry areas will also benefit for years from what is being accomplished now. The new portico and the walkway from the chapel to the main facility will also protect us from adverse affects from the weather.
Thank you for all of you who are contributing financially to Mission Possible. If you have not yet made a pledge and would like to do so please contact our finance office. If you have any questions about the project there is a place on our web site to ask them.
I remind you why Asbury exists: "Glorify God and Make Disciples."

Spring 2007
Dana recently did some remodeling at our home, including having the carpet replaced with stained concrete. It was messy, inconvenient and it took longer than we anticipated. But it looks so much better now. I cannot tell you how pleased we are with it (and I’m especially pleased because she did all the work).
If you have ever remodeled, you know what I am talking about. Asbury is about to begin a MAJOR expansion and remodel project. Work should begin in May (a great time to start). We hope to affect our programs as little as possible but know there will be an impact. Certain parking areas and access to entrances will be limited or completely shut down for a period of time. Traffic will be redirected both in the parking lot and into the building. Inconvenience will be as limited as possible. Flintco, our construction manager, takes safety very seriously. We will protect people!
Just like any expansion or remodel job, this will create some challenges. It will be noisy, dirty, inconvenient and frustrating at times. Much effort is going into the planning and construction schedule to create as safe and productive environment as possible. Up to date information via e-mail and on the website will let you know what areas of parking will be affected at what times, what entrances will be closed and any alterations to programming necessary.
Please be patient for the next year as we expand and grow. The end result will be a wonderful new birth of ministry for Asbury. Let’s remember to “Glorify God – Make Disciples” even as we build.

Year 2006
Dear Asbury Family,
God’s blessing has been upon Asbury! Like Abraham, we realize that the blessing is not only for us to enjoy, but we are called to pass that blessing on to others.
We have come far in our journey, but now is not the time to stop and rest. God is not finished with us yet, and so we have been intentionally seeking God’s will to know what we should do in the days to come. There are many people to reach for Christ and many opportunities for us in our community. You have probably seen the words, “Mission Possible,” in various places around Asbury. We have chosen this name for our capital stewardship campaign because we know that as we seek to Glorify God and Make Disciples, God will make all things possible.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to pray about how God wants you to respond. We are asking every household at Asbury to consider making a sacrificial commitment beyond our regular offerings. Our three-year capital stewardship campaign begins in June 2006 and continues through May 2009. We are praying that during that time God will inspire our congregation to raise approximately 14 million dollars.
We are excited about what God is going to do in and through us in the coming days. I believe He uses these times to bring us together and to help us focus on a common purpose – something that is much bigger than what we can imagine. Thank you for choosing to respond to the sharing of God’s blessing with others.
In Christ,

Tom Harrison
