Todd Craig
Pastor with College and Young Adults
The Reverend Todd Craig, recently ordained minister, is Asbury’s Pastor with College and Young Adults. While he was ordained Tuesday, June 1, 2004 he is hardly new to Asbury. Todd’s parents, Don and Janet Craig, joined the Asbury congregation one month before Todd was born. He knows that his background within the church through Sunday school and Vacation Bible School set the stage for his spiritual decision at age 10. “I was in bed, by myself and I remember just knowing I needed to give my life to Christ.”
While that definite decision was acted on at 10, Todd has continued—and is continuing—to learn just what that means in his life and how his Christianity is lived out on a day-by-day basis.
Todd’s greatest joy is found in just being with people, hanging out with them. “We don’t even have to be doing much. I just like being with them,” he said. While he does thrive in the company of others, he especially loves sports whether it’s a thrown together baseball, soccer or Frisbee game.
He also enjoys time with Stephanie Spain Craig, his wife of three years. Actually, Stephanie and Todd met at Asbury when she was in 8th Grade and he was a sophomore in high school, though they didn’t begin dating until many years later. Todd admires his wife for so many fine qualities, but mostly appreciates the fact that she loves Jesus with all her heart and “she loves me.”
He is a graduate of Tulsa’s Holland Hall and then attended Oklahoma Baptist University graduating with a degree in Religious Studies in 1998. In 2001, Todd earned his Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in Lexington, Kentucky.
Upon graduation, Todd returned to Tulsa and joined the Asbury staff ministering to college students and young adults. He loves working with that age group because he feels it’s a critical time in an individual’s life. “The statistics tells us a certain percentage of young people become Christians before they reach the age of 18. Others feel that many students enter college and abandon their faith. I feel it’s a time when they move from the faith of their childhood to a time when they take ownership of their faith. Also, it is a time of questioning and I enjoy addressing the hard questions and helping others find the answers to those questions,” he said.
Todd believes their faith can be strengthened during this significant time in their lives and he is committed to walking with them on their journey.
